Hey! Hello! Hi!

The newsletter formally known as “Italy In Your Inbox” is now “Miss Adventures.” The writer remains the same.

My name is Melanie and you may have arrived on this page via one of my websites—Miss Adventures or Italofile.

While I still write about Italy, I decided that I could no longer write just about Italy. Work and family issues, health problems, and missed opportunities to visit have kept me from Italy for a while. It felt like a good time for me to switch gears, especially since I wasn’t there to witness for myself the acceleration of (over)tourism and its backlash.

I’ll get back to Italy soon—even sooner if you support this publication with monetary support! Hey—we all need our patrons.

Of course, I continue to travel, read, and learn about the world around and within me.

My most recent travels have taken me to Germany, the country where I spent a year as a high school exchange student. It has been so exciting getting to know a somewhat familiar land, this time armed with more extensive knowledge of its long and confusing history.

I renamed this newsletter in order to reignite my passion for writing about everything I do, everywhere I go, and all that I am interested in.

“Miss Adventures” is meant to convey that I’m no expert. I’m a curious gal and I make mistakes. I love the freedom of adventure and freedom of speech, so don’t be surprised to find quite a few opinions among my observations.

Despite this world’s growing pains, I remain in awe of it and find that most people almost everywhere are inherently good. I write to share what I have learned from a lifetime of living and working in six countries on three continents. I write to inspire others’ curiosity to venture beyond the beaten path.

Miss Adventures is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

This newsletter is free. But you can support my work by subscribing or sharing my posts.

I have also set up a pay-what-you-like link, which is connected to the same payment service that powers Substack. If you’re already a paying subscriber of a Substack publication, you can send me a one-time tip instead of signing up for (ir)regular emails.

One-Time Tip Only - No Subscription

Thank you for your support! I look forward to sharing my love of the world with you.

Yours,

Melanie, aka Miss Adventures
